Myanmar’s phase of transition and it’s rapid opening since 2010 has different effects on its economy, politics, and social live. This transition period is highly interesting for academia, since research in the country was not possible for decades.
Right now is the time to explore this society in transition - from a more or less isolated society to one that is globally linked and facing all positive and negative aspects of globalization.

There is a growing number of researchers at the University of Zurich conducting research projects in and about Myanmar. In November 2014, a Memorandum of Understanding for joint projects and cooperation between the University of Zurich and Mandalay University has been signed.
